KPK Chair Ensures Corruption Eradication Work Will Not Be Disturbed Even Though Lili Pintauli Resigns
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri ensured that the work of the institution would not be disrupted even though Lili Pintauli Siregar resigned from her position as Deputy Chair of the KPK. The KPK continues to be committed to eradicating corruption.
"KPK is committed to continuing to carry out its tasks of eradicating corruption as mandated by the law," said Firli in a written statement, Monday, July 11.
The KPK, continued Firli, will also continue to synergize with law enforcement officers and other institutions. "And the community through education, prevention and enforcement efforts," he said.
The former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK said that Lili's resignation had been approved by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The Presidential Decree (Keppres) has been issued today, Monday, July 11 with number 71/P of 2022 concerning the dismissal of the KPK leadership.
Regarding Lili's replacement, Firli said it was left to President Jokowi.
"That in the event of a vacancy in the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission, the President of the Republic of Indonesia proposes a candidate for a replacement member to the DPR RI as regulated in the legislation," said Firli, referring to the KPK Law No.
Firli appreciates all the decisions of the KPK Supervisory Board regarding the alleged ethical violations committed by Lili. He said that ethical values had been upheld.
The KPK also appealed to the entire community not to give gifts or gratuities to the leadership, supervisory board, or KPK employees. This follows the alleged violation that Lili allegedly committed.
Lili was reported to the KPK Supervisory Board for allegedly receiving accommodation and MotoGP tickets. The award is made by PT Pertamina (Persero).
"KPK urges the entire community not to give gifts or gratuities to KPK leaders, councils or employees," he said.
"We express our appreciation to all Indonesian people who to this day continue to support and oversee the tasks of eradicating corruption. We also thank Mrs. Lili Pintauli Siregar for her work while serving as KPK leader," concluded Firli.
