Closing The Session, Plenary Meeting Passed The Correctional Bill Into Law
JAKARTA - The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia held the 28th Plenary Meeting of the DPR RI for the Trial Period V of the 2021-2022 Session Year. Today's plenary is also to close the trial period and begin the recess period of members of the House.
The Plenary Meeting was chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from the NasDem Faction, Rahmat Gobel, with the first agenda, namely decision-making on the Draft Law on Education and Psychological Services discussed by Commission X of the House of Representatives. "Can the Bill on Education and Psychological Services be approved to be passed into Law?," asked Rahmat Gobel, who was answered in agreement with councillors at the Parliament Complex on Thursday, July 7.
In addition to passing the Law on Education and Psychological Services, the Plenary of the House of Representatives also passed the Draft Law on Corrections into the Correctional Law. "Next we will ask each faction whether the Bill on Corrections can be approved into law?" said Rahmad then tapped the gavel of the hearing sign of approval. In today's closing Plenary meeting, the House of Representatives also agreed on a Draft Law on the Proposal of the Initiative of Commission II of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia concerning the Establishment of the Province of Southwest Papua, into a Draft Law (RUU) proposed by the DPR RI. As well as approving the Draft Law on the Proposal of Initiatives of Commission IV of the DPR RI on the Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and Their Ecosystems, becoming the Proposal Bill of the DPR RI. The Factions' opinions on the two bills agreed to be submitted in writing to shorten the time due to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Plenary Meeting was ended with a closing speech by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani. Thus, members of the House of Representatives officially entered the recess period from July 8 to August 15, 2022.
