Densus 88 Investigate PPATK Data On ACT Funds Flow To Al-Qaeda

JAKARTA - The Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis (PPATK) found a transaction from the charity Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) to someone suspected of being affiliated with Al-Qaeda. Densus 88 Anti-terror also intervened to investigate the transaction.

"Densus 88 is intensively working to explore these transactions," said Head of BanOps Detachment 88 Anti-terror Kombes Kombes Aswin Siregar when confirmed, Thursday, July 7.

Then, the investigation also leads to allegations of other terrorism crimes. Because, there are also transactions that lead to high-risk countries.

A high-risk country means a country that is considered weak in its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism system.

The process of deepening with the capital of the intelligence data sent by PPATK. This is because the data is informational, so it needs to be verified to finally confirm the truth of the allegation.

"PPATK has sent data on suspicious transactions that are suspected to indicate criminal acts of terrorism financing to Densus 88 because of the flow of funds to several high-risk areas (countries, ed) which are hotspots of terrorism activity," said Aswin.

PPATK previously stated that there was a flow of funds from the charity Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) that led to terrorist groups. Found a transaction to someone affiliated with the Al-Qaeda terrorist network.

"Based on the results of a study from the database that PPTK has, it is still suspected that the person concerned (the recipient, ed) has been arrested as one of 19 people arrested by the Turkish police for being associated with Al-Qaeda," said Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana.

Then, from a temporary search, it was also found that ACT transactions were carried out in a number of high-risk countries. In fact, the parties who make transactions start from employees to the admin of the charity.

"I have mentioned countries at the beginning, there are such as Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia, Albania, and India, one of them. And one of them sends to the region there. Then there is Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan," said Ivan.
