DKI Accelerates Construction Of 4 Reservoirs To Overcome Jakarta Floods

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has accelerated the construction of four dams, namely Brigif Reservoir, Lebak Bulus, Pondok Ranggon, and Wirajas, to deal with flooding.

"We have a plan in August to launch the construction of a reservoir or reservoir, to be precise on August 17," said the Head of the Flood Control and Drainage Section of the DKI Jakarta SDA Agency, Maman Supratman, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 6.

He said that a number of areas that often flooded, with the existence of this reservoir, were handled properly and prevented floods that almost hit every year.

If you follow the contract agreement, the construction of these four reservoirs will be completed in October. However, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will try as much as possible to accelerate this development.

Maman gave the example of the Brigif Reservoir, which has an area of 10 hectares, will be able to accommodate around 377 thousand cubications and at least be able to reduce flooding by up to 20 percent for the area.

"We are pursuing the construction target, which aims to reduce the flow of water from the Kali Kurukut, Sunter and we hope it can be maximized when facing the rainy season," said Maman.

The four reservoirs can also be used by residents for sports and also as public spaces. So, not just a reservoir alone, later this will be multifunctional.
