One Of The Successes Of The 2024 Election Is About Technology And This Is What KPU Is Doing
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) and the General Elections Commission (KPU) had an audience to discuss strengthening communication technology to make the General Elections (Pemilu) successful for both national and regional levels in 2024.
"Today, the leaders of institutions, both Kominfo and KPU RI, have made a joint commitment to provide mutual support. Kominfo is providing support related to the main tasks and functions of Kominfo, including access and readiness of infrastructure," said Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G.Plate during a conference press at the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Wednesday, July 6, quoted from Antara.
The infrastructure in question starts from upstream to downstream so that optimization of technology and communication strengthening can be realized during the 2024 Election.
From the upstream side, physical infrastructure such as communication networks is certainly a priority to be strengthened.
Meanwhile, in terms of downstream digital services, such as digital applications for elections, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also strengthened.
This collaboration is also expected to maintain optimal transparency, especially during vote recapitulation at polling stations (TPS) in regions so that public trust is maintained.
"We previously communicated with the Minister, especially regarding strengthening such as signals so that if the KPU uses the recapitulation information system later on in the vote counting at the polling stations, there can be an acceleration and then we can witness the transparency and accountability aspects together," said the Chairman. KPU RI Hasyim Asy'ari.
In the future, experiences from previous elections will be used as a reference for system improvement and strengthening election technology.
Especially with new things that have developed, such as the expansion of regions to the increase in the number of residents, they are also taken into account so that the strengthening of information technology for the 2024 General Election can be maximized.
"The addition and the distribution (of the area) is getting wider, of course this is also related to the availability of telecommunication networks. So later we will coordinate how optimal and maximum services can be provided. The KPU will be able to carry out its duties related to elections smoothly," he said. Johnny.
