Mayor Of Gibran Will Restrict Events In Surakarta Only To Residents Already Booster
SURAKARTA - The Surakarta City Government has accelerated the third vaccination or booster for its citizens. One strategy is to limit big events to those who have already done boosters.
"Because it is free, (visitors for large events) do not (I) limit (for residents) who have had boosters (vaccinated boosters) only, so those who have not been vaccinated must immediately vaccinate," said Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Solo, quoted from Between, Wednesday 6th July.
The major events he was referring to include the opening, matches and closing events of the ASEAN Para Games, the Southeast Asian disabled sporting event which is scheduled to take place in Surakarta from 23 to 30 July 2022.
According to the Mayor, the new booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination covers about 57 percent of the total 417,151 people targeted for vaccination in Solo City and the coverage figure has stagnated in recent weeks.
"Even though (vaccination services) are still open in every puskesmas, it means that the enthusiasm of the residents is reduced," he said.
He said the city government was following directions from the central government regarding the imposition of booster vaccination requirements for residents who wanted to travel or visit public places such as shopping malls.
"We just follow the directions, from what kind of center. That's why I invite the residents of Solo and its surroundings for a booster because the vaccine is free, safe, and halal," he said.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as Coordinator for Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities in Java and Bali has stated the government's plan to make booster vaccinations a condition of citizen mobility.
"The government will re-implement the policy of incentives and disincentives by changing and re-enacting the requirements for booster vaccination as a condition for people's mobility to public areas. In addition, the government will also re-implement the requirements for booster vaccination as a condition for traveling by air, land, and sea, which will be carried out a maximum of two weeks," he said.
