Mahfud MD Endorse ACT's Confessions In 2018: I Was Suddenly Visited To The Office, Was Also Held At Gunpoint After The Friday Sermon
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD said that he had been involved with the Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Foundation.
Mahfud said that he had given an endorsement to ACT's activities in mid 2018. He said that at that time ACT suddenly came to his office in Sumatra to invite cooperation.
"To give this endorsement, I was suddenly visited at the office. I was also held at the gun as soon as I finished giving a sermon at a mosque," wrote Mahfud on his Instagram account, @mohmahfudmd, Wednesday 6 July.
The former judge of the Constitutional Court (MK) said that he supported ACT's activities for the sake of humanity. Mahfud reasoned that this was done on the basis of dedication to humanity in Papua, Palestine and Eastern Ghouta, a suburb of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
"The material is there to help victims of attacks on Palestinians, natural disasters in Papua, and ISIS attacks in Damascus," said Mahfud.
He also admitted that he was happy to endorse humanitarian movements like ACT. Because at that time Mahfud thought that ACT was still purely working for humanitarian affairs.
Mahfud said that if it was proven that the funds collected by ACT were misappropriated, he would ask law enforcement officials to process it thoroughly.
"If it is true that the humanitarian funds collected by ACT were misappropriated, then apart from being condemned, the misappropriation must also be brought to the criminal justice process," he concluded.
The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is known to have officially revoked the ACT foundation's license. The letter of revocation was signed by the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Ad Interim Muhadjir Effendi on Tuesday, July 5.
ACT's license was revoked on the basis of alleged violations of regulations by the foundation. The revocation is stated in the Decree of the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 133/HUK/2022 dated July 5, 2022 regarding the revocation of the permit for the collection of donations to the Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Foundation.
