Today Meghan Markle Made History, What Is It?

JAKARTA - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to the United States in March. Now, they are presenting their views on the presidential election of the United States which will take place today, Tuesday, November 3 US time.

As a British citizen, Prince Harry is certainly not eligible to vote in US elections. However, given that Harry is a member of the Royal family, he is also unable to vote in the British election.

In a clip promoting Time magazine's 100 most influential people of 2020, Prince Harry says: "This election, I won't be able to vote here in the US.

"But many of you may not know that I haven't been able to vote in England in my entire life."

But Meghan, who was born and raised in California, is a US citizen and therefore eligible to vote in today's presidential election.

Since stepping down as senior members of the Royal family, Harry and Meghan have been in a gray position, and the rules aren't clear.

Previously, Meghan and Harry were unable to voice their opinion on political matters.

However, Meghan has recently used her voice to support campaigns that encourage Americans to vote, and have spoken out on issues such as gender equality.

Today Meghan looks set to be breaking the rules of the Royal family members Harry must adhere to for the rest of his life. He votes in the US presidential election.

Meghan herself admits that she can now "use her voice" in ways she couldn't before.

In an interview with The 19th, the non-profit US non-partisan newsroom, Meghan spoke about the Black Lives Matter movement after George Floyd's death earlier in the year.

He said: "From my point of view, it is not new to look at this undercurrent of racism, and of course its unconscious bias.

"But I think seeing the changes that are being made right now is something I'm looking forward to being a part of."

Meghan added: "And being a part of using my voice in a way I haven't been able to lately. So yeah, it's nice to be home."

Meanwhile, as Head of State, Queen Elizabeth II must remain neutral in policy matters. Usually, other members of the Royal Family do not vote because they are considered unconstitutional.
