Jakarta Increases PPKM Level 2, DKI Provincial Government Must Return To Massive Booster Vaccination Centers
JAKARTA - Member of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Idris Ahmad, asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to reactivate the COVID-19 vaccination center, especially the third dose or booster vaccination.
Considering, currently Jakarta is experiencing an increase in the status of the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) from Level 1 to Level 2.
"Vaccination centers need to be re-invigorated, especially at stations, Transjakarta bus stops, malls, markets and other public spaces where Jakartans often congregate," said Idris in his statement, Wednesday, July 6.
The intensification of this vaccination service, said Idris, is in line with President Joko Widodo's order, which plans to establish a third dose of vaccination, aka booster vaccine, as a condition for community activities and trips.
Meanwhile, the achievement of the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Jakarta has not yet reached 50 percent of the total target in DKI Jakarta. Data as of July 4, 2022, the third dose of vaccine in DKI Jakarta has only reached 4,097,471 of the target above 10 million people.
"The DKI Provincial Government should be able to translate the appeal from the Palace. The governor and his staff and other parties need to work together to control the rate of COVID-19," said Idris.
In addition, Idris also reminded the DKI Provincial Government to ensure that the implementation of health protocols and the use of the PeduliLindung application in public facilities and public spaces continues.
"I see that many public transportation facilities and public spaces have started to slack in implementing health protocols. In fact, the managers have started to ignore them," said Idris.
"Stations, bus stops, malls, markets and public spaces should strictly enforce health procedures, because I have seen that scans of the PeduliLindung application have begun to be ignored, and even rarely checked," he said.
PPKM in DKI Jakarta is now in Level 2 status for the next four weeks from July 5 to August 1. Previously, Jakarta implemented PPKM Level 1 for six weeks since May 24.
In the implementation of PPKM Level 2, there is a maximum capacity limitation of 75 percent for a number of activities such as working in the office or work from office (WFO) in the non-essential sector, schools, visits to malls, restaurants, gyms, cinemas, supermarkets, shops, markets, places of worship, public facilities, social activities, to wedding receptions.
However, the capacity for public transportation, construction activities, as well as essential and critical sector offices in the Level 2 PPKM area remains 100 percent.
