Putin Rewards Two Russian Generals With Hero Titles After Seizing Lugansk, Ukraine Losses: 5,496 Troops, 196 Tanks And Armored To Fighter Jets
JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Monday awarding the titles Heroes of Russia, to Major General Esedulla Abachev and Colonel General Alexander Lapin, for their services during the liberation of the People's Republic of Lugansk.
"To confer the title Hero of the Russian Federation on Abachev Esedulla Abdulmuminovich, Major General, and Alexander Pavlovich Lapin, Colonel General, for the courage and heroism they have shown in carrying out their military duties," reads the decree, which was published on the information legal web portal, TASS reported. July 5th.
On Sunday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed President Putin of the liberation of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) in a special military operation.
During a meeting Monday, President Putin congratulated the Russian military and the LPR on this victory, asking to offer awards to those who have performed heroic acts in combat.
In his report to President Putin, Minister Shoigu described the losses suffered by Ukraine in the siege that lasted about two weeks. Includes 5,469 personnel, 3,251 sanitation, 196 tanks and other armored vehicles, 12 aircraft, one helicopter, 69 unmanned aerial vehicles, six long-range anti-aircraft missile systems, 97 multiple rocket launchers, 166 field artillery and mortar guns and 216 vehicles for various purposes, launches Kremlin.ru.
Minister Shoigu also said, in Lysichansk, the retreating enemy left 39 tanks and other armored vehicles, 11 guns and mortars, 48 Javelin and NLAW anti-tank missile systems, 18 Stinger systems and three unmanned aerial vehicles.
Earlier, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov reported that the Central group troops under the command of Lapin together with the Southern troop group surrounded one of the main locations, the city of Lisichansk.
The spokesman explained, as a result of a successful attack, the troops of the Middle group captured the settlements of Verkhnekamenka, Zolotarevka, Belogorovka, reached the Seversky Donetsk River and together with the group of Southern troops closed the siege.
