Three Import Steering Boards In Capital Development And The Reason For Their Appointment

JAKARTA - After determining the location and design, the government is now stepping on the gas to move the capital city. This is proven by the completion of the Draft Law regarding the relocation of the capital city from DKI Jakarta to East Kalimantan.

"The draft bill for the capital city has been completed. Next week, God willing, we will convey it to the DPR," said President Joko Widodo to reporters at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Friday, January 17.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta said that this bill would also regulate the formation of the Capital Authority Agency which is tasked with leading the development and transfer from Jakarta to the Penajem Passer Utara and Kutai Kertanegara areas.

Once formed, Jokowi said, this agency must be led by a person who understands the global economy, urban planning and has a network in the international world. "That's what you are looking for. It must be heavyweight," he said.

On that occasion, Jokowi explained that in accordance with the draft bill, a new capital city would not be built on top of a new province. If nothing changes when it is discussed at the DPR, according to him, the new capital city will enter the administrative area in East Kalimantan Province.

Import three steering boards

To help with the capital relocation process, in addition to establishing the Capital Authority Agency, Jokowi also imported three directors. The three people are Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), SoftBank founder and Chief Executive Officer of SoftBank Mobile Masayoshi Son and former British Prime Minister from 1997-2007 Tonny Blair.

Jokowi also explained the reasons for choosing the three names. According to him, the three names he chose to become the steering committee for the new capital were people who had a good reputation in the international world.

In the future, the three of them, said Jokowi, would direct the relocation of the capital, while the resolution of operational problems would be carried out by the government.

Even though he imported the steering committee from abroad, Jokowi said there was no salary for the three people because they couldn't afford it. Moreover, these three people certainly have extraordinary wealth. Call it like Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ).

This Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi has a fantastic value of wealth, reaching USD 1.4 trillion. So, with such wealth, even Jokowi cannot imagine the salary that Prince MBZ should receive.

"I mentioned earlier that the figure is US $ 1.4 trillion, our salary is not strong. US $ 1.4 trillion, US $ trillion. Just imagine," he said.

Jokowi said that instead of salaries, the Indonesian government was only able to reward them because they wanted to be on the board of directors. "We are a big country, don't be so pessimistic. (Being the steering committee) for the nation's capital is an appreciation for sitting on the steering committee for the transfer of the country's capital city. This is a big job and will become history," he concluded.
