PEKANBARU - Afrizal Rasid, a resident of Pekanbaru City, Riau, said he was proud and grateful that his pet cow was chosen by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to sacrifice in Riau on Eid al-Adha 1443 H.
The owner of the selected cattle, Afrizal Rasid, said he was grateful that his cow was chosen as a sacrificial cow on behalf of the number one person in Indonesia.
President Jokowi's sacrificial cow for Riau on Eid this year was purchased from Afrizal who lives in Sialangmunggu Village, Tuah Madani District, Pekanbaru City.
This Simmental cattle weighing 814 kilograms has gone through an inspection and selection process by the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service of Riau Province and a team from the Presidential Secretariat some time before.
"We are very grateful. Thank you to the Livestock Service Office of Riau Province and Pekanbaru City who took part in this," Afrizal said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 5.
Afrizal said that until now no price has been confirmed by the Livestock Service. However, it is estimated that the agreed price is around Rp. 70 million.
Regarding the mouth and nail disease (PMK) epidemic that is currently infesting livestock, Afrizal said his party is providing extra care for the health of their cows in the face of Eid this year.
"We clean and bathe the cows every day. There is additional food and vitamins in the form of herbs. Alhamdulillah, until now our cows are safe," he concluded.
Unlike the previous year where President Joko Widodo's sacrificial cows were slaughtered at the An Nur Grand Mosque Complex, on Eid al-Adha 1443 Hijriah President Jokowi's sacrificial cows will be slaughtered at the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School Complex on Jalan HR Soebrantas, Pekanbaru City.
