Ahead Of The U-19 National Team Clash With Thailand, Hokky Caraka Aims For Top Scorer

JAKARTA - Indonesian U-19 striker Hokky Caraka is aiming for the top scorer title ahead of the match against Thailand in the third match of the 2022 AFF U-19 group phase. This was revealed by Hokky after reaping good results in the match against Brunei Darussalam.

In the second match of the Group A phase, Monday night, the Indonesian U-19 national team won 7-0 over Brunei. The victory could not be separated from the quat-trick made by Hokky Caraka.

The collection of four goals against Brunei made Hokky immediately topped the list of temporary top scorers. The PSS Sleman player is ahead of Nattakit Butsing from Thailand and Nguyen Quoc Viet from Vietnam who has only collected two goals.

This record makes Hokky confident and determined to be able to continue to score goals for Garuda Muda.

"The target is to become the top scorer, but there is no target for how many goals (to be scored)," said Hokky Caraka after attending the training session.

After recording good results in the match against Brunei, Hokky and his teammates had to return to serious training to prepare for the match against Thailand. This match will take place tomorrow night.

For that match, Hokky Caraka did not significantly set a target to score again. However, the 17-year-old striker revealed that he would appear more focused to help the team win for the sake of qualifying for the semifinals.

"There is no goal target (against Thailand), the important thing is to win first," he said.

“Hopefully we can get the maximum result against Thailand. Thailand only wins strongly in top ball duels, so we might take advantage of short passes," said Hokky.

The meeting with Thailand is an opportunity for the national team to be shot to the top of Group A. Hokky Caraka and his friends have the potential to rise to the top position if they win and another option is for Vietnam not to win by a landslide against Brunei on the same day.
