Many Farmers Affected By Mouth And Nail Disease, Diskanak Garut Proposes 'Kerohiman' Money From The Regional Budget
GARUT - The Department of Fisheries and Livestock (Disanak) of Garut Regency, West Java has proposed financial assistance to the local government for farmers affected by foot and mouth disease (PMK).
"We are in the process of proposing a budget through shifting the FY 2022 APBD of Garut Regency," said Head of the Garut Regency Diskanak Sofyan Yani in Garut, Antara, Tuesday, July 5.
He said the Garut Diskanak team had conducted a survey and recorded every cattle that died because of PMK, the data proposed to get spiritual assistance was 105 cows.
He hopes that the proposal will be realized as soon as possible and given directly to farmers who have suffered losses, because their livestock died due to PMK.
"We, through BTT (unexpected costs) the shift may take a while too, we are just processing it, hopefully this week it can be done," he said.
He explained that the assistance for farmers is a budget from the Garut Regency Government, the plan is that the central government will also provide assistance to farmers affected by PMK.
Regarding the assistance from the center that will be given to the same breeders, Sofyan said that he did not yet know the mechanism for obtaining assistance from the center.
"We'll just distribute it from the district first, I don't know from the center whether it can be doubled or one can be taken, there are no instructions yet," he said.
He added that currently the Garut Diskanak team continues to work to overcome the livestock affected by the FMD outbreak by administering medicine and taking action so that the livestock quickly returns to health.
In addition, he continued, the animal health team has also moved to provide FMD vaccine to healthy cattle to prevent the spread of FMD.
"We continue to carry out vaccinations to overcome this PMK," he said.
