Police Arrest 2 Traffickers Through MiChat In Bandar Lampung
BANDAR LAMPUNG - The Bandar Lampung Police arrested two people who were trafficking people through the MiChat instant messaging application in the local city.
"The disclosure of this case is based on our investigation through the MiChat instant messaging application, which resulted in the arrest of two suspects with the initials RM (17) and VT (19) for trafficking in humans," said Head of the PPA Polresta Bandar Lampung Iptu Gustomi Dedy, quoted by Antara, Monday, 4. July.
The disclosure of the case began with a police investigation due to the proliferation of human trafficking through various short message applications.
"So the roles of the two people are each to chat with the peddler, then after meeting each other there is an agreement for the practice of trafficking in minors," he said.
The arrests of the two suspects were carried out at an inn in Bandarlampung City with the two victims with the initials AS (16) and AD (12) charging rates ranging from Rp. 250,000 to Rp. 800,000.
"From the confession of the two suspects, this is the first time they have committed an act of trafficking in persons. Their reason is that the plan is to use the proceeds from human trafficking for rah-rah and liquor, then eat," he said.
During the arrest of the two suspects, his party secured evidence in the form of IDR 20,000, a smartphone, and several pieces of clothing from the victim.
"For their actions, the two suspects are suspected of being under the Criminal Act of Trafficking in Persons as referred to in Article 2 or Article 10 or Article 11 of Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning Eradication of the Criminal Act of Trafficking in Persons," said Iptu Gustomi.
