5.1 Earthquake In Nagan Raya, BPBD Performs Data Collection On Damaged Buildings

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province conducted data collection on the houses of local coastal residents, following the 5.1 magnitude earthquake on Sunday, at around 07.10 WIB.

"So far, we are still collecting data, we don't know whether there was any damage or not," said Secretary of BPBD of Nagan Raya Regency Said Nazaruddin, as reported by Antara, Sunday, July 3.

Based on BMKG data, the earthquake was located at 4.46 North Latitude, 96.55 East Longitude or 36 kilometers northeast of Nagan Raya Regency with a depth of 10 kilometers.

He explained that when the earthquake occurred, local residents were starting their holiday activities. Said said, local residents were surprised by the earthquake.

"There was no overwhelming panic, just shock," he said.

Although they have not received information on buildings that were affected or damaged by the earthquake, BPBD Nagan Raya urges the public to report to officers or village officials if there are buildings damaged as a result of the incident.

"We also urge the public not to panic and remain alert to the potential for aftershocks," said Said Nazaruddin.
