West Java Prepares Development Plans For 6 Drug Rehabilitation Centers

JABAR - The West Java Provincial Government supports efforts to deal with drug addiction. One of them is preparing a master plan for the construction of six rehabilitation centers in the area.

One provincial-scale rehabilitation center is located in Lembang, West Bandung Regency, while the other five are spread across a number of places in West Java.

"In the master plan (master plan), we have prepared six rehabilitation centers, one of which is in Cimaung, whose land we have prepared, supervised and directed by the Bandung Regent," said West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil after the inauguration of the Adhyaksa Drug Rehabilitation Center in Cimaung, Kabupaten Bandung, Antara, Friday, July 1st.

He welcomed the presence of the Adhyaksa Drug Rehabilitation Center in Cimaung, Bandung Regency. The rehabilitation center for victims of drug abuse has just been inaugurated by the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Human Rights Mahfud MD together with the Attorney General ST Burhanuddin.

According to Kang Emil, Ridwan Kamil's nickname, the presence of the rehabilitation center is a form of implementation of the concept of restoration justice.

"We are waiting for this, a legal logic, namely restorative justice in resolving cases without eliminating legal aspects," he said.

Kang Emil revealed that a number of prisons in West Java had exceeded their capacity. As for 50-70 percent of prison residents are drug cases.

"After seeing their profiles, I think they need to be rehabilitated," he said.

Concerns also arise because a third of drug users are students and students who are still of productive age.

He is optimistic that the Adhyaksa Rehabilitation Center will be the right recovery tool for those who are facing drug addiction.

"I believe this rehabilitation center will reduce the impact of drug dependence," he said.

Not only in Cimaung, on that occasion the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD also inaugurated Adhyaksa Drug Rehabilitation Centers in nine other provinces simultaneously via virtual.

There are a total of 10 provincial-level halls within the jurisdiction of the High Court, namely Aceh, Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung, Banten, and West Java.

In addition, in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), East Java, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi and South Sulawesi. The total is 34 halls.

"The Adhyaksa Hall as a rehabilitation facility for drug abusers and addicts today I have officially inaugurated 10 centers at the provincial level," said Mahfud.

He said that the Attorney General's Office had encouraged restorative justice in drug crimes by issuing the Attorney General's Guidelines on the Settlement of Drug Crime Cases through Rehabilitation, especially for victims. The Adhyaksa Rehabilitation Center is intended to restore drug abuse.

"The hope is that after completing their rehabilitation they will recover from drug dependence, recover physically, and can be accepted by the environment. That is the philosophy of the correctional institution," he said.
