After The KM Tiana Incident, Hipmi Mabar Ensures Labuan Bajo Is Safe And Comfortable For Traveling

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, NTT has spoken about the sinking of KM Tiani in Komodo National Park, which claimed the lives of the mother and sister of actress and soap opera actress Ayu Anjani, on Wednesday, June 28 yesterday.

General Treasurer of BPD Hipmi Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai (Mabar), Rachmat Julio said the KM Tiani sinking incident was an unpredictable accident and could happen to anyone and anywhere, just like accidents in general.

"This is a disaster that can happen to anyone and anywhere. Like a plane crash and other disasters," said Rachmat Julio to reporters in Jakarta, Friday, July 1.

Rachmat Julio, who is also the owner of Anjani Trip Group, invites the public not to be led by negative opinions that can create a narrative that Labuan Bajo is not safe to visit or other things that are cornering considering that Labuan Bajo is currently the center of world attention with its natural and cultural beauty.

"I invite tourists not to be afraid to travel to Labuan Bajo. Do not let people be led by the opinion that Labuan Bajo is not safe for tourists. That is a wrong narrative. Once again, this is purely a disaster that can happen anytime and anywhere. Labuan Bajo," he explained.

"Once again I make sure that Labuan Bajo is very safe and comfortable to be a tourist destination. So people don't have to be afraid to go to Bajo," he said.

Apart from the disaster, Julio suspects that the incident occurred due to negligence on the part of the ship's captain and crew (ABK) who seemed to be escaping their responsibility.

For this reason, the initiator of #KembaliBerwisata urged the police to thoroughly investigate the negligence that resulted in the loss of two lives.

"We ask the police, especially the West Manggarai Police, to investigate thoroughly and take firm and precise action on the negligence that led to this incident," he said.

"The captain and crew of the ship must be examined and processed in the light and fair way because the captain and crew are suspected of violating the shipping law. So that it does not have a bad impact on the tourism industry in Labuan Bajo," he added.

Julio also hopes that in the future, ship captains and crew will truly understand their duties and responsibilities as ship crews in accordance with Article 244, Article 245 and Article 249 of Law Number 17 of 2008 concerning Shipping.

"I hope this is the last time this will happen. This is a lesson that must be taken so that it doesn't happen again," he concluded.
