Prince William Has Secretly Contracted COVID-19, Why Is It A Secret?
JAKARTA - Prince William had contracted COVID-19 in April. According to The Sun, the media that first reported the news, the man with the title of Duke of Cambridge was exposed to COVID-19 along with his father Prince Charles, who also contracted it at the end of March.
The grandson of Queen Elizabeth who is also the second heir to the throne in the British Empire is keeping her diagnosis a secret because she doesn't want to make the country worry. Prince William tested positive for COVID-19 just days after British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson and Prince Charles tested positive.
"There are important things that are happening and I do not want to worry anyone," Prince William was quoted as saying by The Sun.
After testing positive for COVID-19, according to Reuters, Prince William was treated by court doctors. He is also known to follow all government guidelines by isolating himself in the Anmer Hall family home, Norfolk. During his treatment, Prince William still made 14 video calls.
"William was hit pretty hard by the virus and actually knocked him down. At one stage he was struggling to breathe, so it's clear everyone around him was very panicked, ”said an unnamed source.
The father, Prince Charles, tested positive for COVID-19 in March. However, it is known that Prince Charles has no severe symptoms and is isolating himself in Scotland. Meanwhile his wife, Camilla, tested negative for COVID-19 but continued to self-isolate.
"Prince Charles has tested positive for the coronavirus. He is showing mild symptoms, but is currently doing well and working from home for the last few days as usual ... The Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla) has also been tested but has not been exposed to the virus," statement from Clarence House on Thursday 26 March.
After Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19, many worried that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip were also infected with the virus. Given that both are elderly and very vulnerable. But the palace said they were both in good condition.
"Her Majesty is well. The last queen met Prince Charles after a ceremony on the morning of March 12 and followed all advice regarding his health," Buckingham Palace said.
