Floods In Podenura Nagekeo Village Damage Nangaroro-Maunori Road, NTT, Vehicles Can't Pass
KUPANG - Floods due to heavy rains that flushed Podenura Village, Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara damaged the road that connects the Nangaroro District route to Keo Tengah (Maunori).
"Today's afternoon flood damaged the Nangaroro-Maunori route and has overflowed into the village area," said Podenura Village Head Anselmus Nuwa when contacted from Labuan Bajo, Antara, Thursday, June 30.
Floods due to heavy rains since last Wednesday have caused road sections to be cut off so that two- and four-wheeled vehicles from two directions cannot pass. There is no other alternative route connecting the two sub-districts.
Currently, many road users from the direction of Central Keo District are trapped in Podenura Village due to flooding. It was still raining in the area. Due to the overflowing flood, one of the residents' stalls was submerged in water.
Anselmus explained that the residents worked together to reduce the risk caused by flooding. Heavy equipment in the form of excavators owned by entrepreneurs at the location is also used for emergency handling.
"Originally this excavator could not be used, there was damage, but it was forced. We are only trying to prevent the flood from overflowing into the villages in Podenura Village," he said.
