Winning 1-0, Arteta Ends Arsenal's Bad Trend At Old Trafford

JAKARTA - Arsenal ruined the celebration of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's 100th match in handling Manchester United by winning 1-0 in the Premier League match at Old Trafford Stadium, Sunday local time or Monday WIB.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored Arsenal's only goal of victory with a penalty in the 69th minute after Paul Pogba was sentenced to tackle Hector Hellerin from behind.

Launching Antara, Monday, November 2, Mason Greenwood had the opportunity to open MU's advantage in the 21st minute but his shot at the near post area was saved by goalkeeper Bernd Leno with the bow of his foot.

Arsenal also had an early lead in the 39th minute but Willian's shot, which goalkeeper David de Gea was unable to reach, hit the crossbar.

Since having the advantage Arsenal have played more pragmatically and thicken their defense, even pulling out Willian and Aubameyang to be replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles and defender Shkodran Mustafi.

Solskjaer tried to pull out his last weapon by fielding Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani to replace Bruno Fernandes and Greenwood respectively.

Van de Beek almost made an immediate contribution when his cross was cleared by Mohamed Elneny and almost resulted in an Arsenal own goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit Leno in the head before hitting the post.

The 1-0 score did not change until dispersal, making Mikel Arteta the first Arsenal manager to win in the first two meetings with United, matching the legendary Gunners manager Herbert Chapman in the 1925/1926 season.

Arteta also ended Arsenal's bad trend, which had never won in its previous 13 away games at Old Trafford, while exacerbating MU's negative record that has never won at home in the Premier League this season.

An additional three points made Arsenal move up to eighth position in the standings with a collection of 12 points, while MU, who collected 7 points, was stuck in 15th place.

Furthermore, the two teams will first appear in European competition before playing the eighth match of the Premier League on Saturday this week when MU travel to Everton's headquarters and Arsenal host Aston Villa at the Emirates.
