Bawaslu Teaches Students The Concept Of Participatory Supervision To Help Supervise Elections

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) in Mamuju, West Sulawesi (Sulbar), involves youth and students to oversee the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

Head of the West Sulawesi Bawaslu, Rusding in Mamuju, said that his party promised to improve and improve the quality of supervision to realize democratic elections in Mamuju Regency.

Bawaslu Mamuju carried out a participatory election monitoring socialization involving youth organizations and student organizations.

According to him, the socialization is expected to be a forum for increasing public knowledge regarding participatory election supervisors, especially among youth and students.

He conveyed that the 2024 election stages had been carried out and Bawaslu would be tasked with overseeing the elections, especially the registration stage for political parties (Parpol).

"The election stages are in accordance with KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 3 of 2022 concerning the Stages and Schedule of Organizing the 2024 General Election, the registration of political parties will be carried out from August 1 to 7, 2022," said Rusding, Thursday, June 30, quoted from Antara.

Meanwhile, he continued, the verification of election participants will end on December 13, 2022 and the determination of election participants on December 14, 2022.

Rusding said that the election process would be monitored by the Mamuju Bawaslu to prevent any potential election violations.

"There should not be people who without their knowledge, but whose identity is used by political parties to register in the election," he said.

For this reason, participatory supervisors or the community are needed as participatory supervisory agents, monitoring potential violations in the election.

"The outreach also provides political education to the public, in order to understand the potential for election violations, by providing political education to the public regarding election violations, although not like election observers who are accredited by Bawaslu," he said.

Bawaslu Prevention Coordinator Mamuju Sitti Mustikawati said Bawaslu could not oversee the election alone, Bawaslu needed community participation, especially youth and students

"Bawaslu cannot work alone, it needs the community, such as youth and students, Bawaslu in facing the 2024 election, will prioritize prevention, related to efforts to resolve election disputes," he said.
