5 Animal Markets In Boyolali Still Closed, Regent: Wait For PMK Evaluation Results

BOYOLALI - At least five animal markets in Boyolali, Central Java (Central Java) are still closed. The opening is waiting for the results of the evaluation of the development of the spread of the oral and nail disease (FMD) outbreak in Boyolali.

"We will open an animal market by considering the evaluation results or seeing the latest developments in the PMK case in Boyolali," said Boyolali Regent M Said Hidayat, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 29.

The five animal markets in Boyolali were closed, namely Jelok Animal Market in Cepogo District, Karanggede Animal Market, Kalioso Animal Market in Nogosari District, Simo Animal Market and Ampel Animal Market.

The closing of the third phase from June 21 to July 4, to prevent the spread of PMK.

In addition, said the Regent, his party is also looking at the development of how the pattern of handling the spread of PMK is, so that when the animal market is opened everything is safe and comfortable.

"We don't need to be in a hurry, but comfort and safety for traders, breeders and other communities is the priority," said the Regent.

The closing of the third stage of the animal market is still being carried out while waiting for the handling of the FMD outbreak by gathering animal health workers including Disnakan veterinarians, paramedics, inseminators and non-medical extension workers to carry out vaccinations in 22 sub-districts.

Boyolali in the first stage received 1,900 doses of vaccination assistance for 1,900 cows with the priority of dairy species.

This is an effort by the Boyolali Regency Government in accelerating the PMK vaccination which will be carried out and has started from Selo, Andong, and then Mojosongo Districts.

The Regent said that if the animal market was opened, it must be carried out according to standard operating procedures (SOP). One of them is the Trade Office, which is asked to prepare a box where the disinfectant is liquid so that the cattle before entering the market must go through the box to wash their feet so that they are sterile from PMK.

"It's the same thing during the COVID-19 pandemic, I asked to provide a hand washing place, while PMK provided a box for washing the feet of cattle. This is a security measure when livestock enter the PMK sterile market," said the Regent.

His party will evaluate the condition of the development of the spread of PMK, also see the development of neighboring districts on the border.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Livestock and Fisheries Service of Boyolali Regency, Lusia Dyah Suciati, said that the PMK vaccination activity had reduced an effective team of 155 people.

Meanwhile, in the case of PMK in Boyolali as of June 26, 2022, there were 3,748 suspected cattle, 32 positive, 30 died from PMK, six cattle were forced to slaughter, and 753 recovered from PMK.
