Visit Lipky's Apartment Which Was Damaged By The War, Jokowi: Sad, No More Cities Damaged By War

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the first lady, Iriana, visited the Lipky Apartment in Irpin City, Ukraine, Wednesday, June 29.

Jokowi was present with his entourage to see the rubble of an apartment building damaged by the war. The head of state was accompanied by Mayor Irpin Alexander Grigorovich Markushin.

"I was accompanied by the Mayor of Irpin and the Deputy Mayor of Irpin to see the damage that had occurred in Irpin City due to the war and it was very sad that many houses were damaged and infrastructure was also damaged," said Jokowi as quoted in his written statement, Wednesday, June 29. .

President Jokowi hopes that the war between Ukraine and Russia can be stopped soon. So, no more cities are damaged.

"We hope that there will be no more damaged cities in Ukraine due to war," he said.

During the visit, Jokowi was also accompanied by a limited group such as Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.

Jokowi will visit a number of locations in Ukraine. First, he will visit the rubble of the Lipky Apartment complex in Irpin City.

Next, the President and First Lady will visit the Ukrainian Center for Endocrine Science and Surgery, Endocrine Organ and Tissue Transplantation in Kyiv City.

Later in the day, Jokowi will go to the Maryinsky Palace. He will have a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Previously, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said President Jokowi would be scheduled to meet the leaders of each country, namely Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow with an estimated meeting time of 29-30 June 2022.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi in a press conference at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, conveyed his mission to Ukraine and Russia is to build dialogue, stop war, and build peace.

The meeting with President Zelensky, said Jokowi, was conducted to build peace between Ukraine and Russia. The war must be stopped and the food commodity supply chain must be active again.

After meeting Zelenskyy, Jokowi will then meet with President Putin. He carries the same mission, which is to open a space for peace dialogue, to push for a ceasefire as soon as possible, to stop the war.

After Russia, the President will visit the United Arab Emirates to resume discussions on economic cooperation and investment.
