KPK Conducts Investigation On The Development Of The Jambi RAPBD Bribery Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it is conducting an investigation regarding the development of an alleged bribery case for the ratification of the 2017 Jambi RAPBD.

"Currently, it is true that an investigation is being carried out by the KPK in the case of the development of the alleged bribery for the ratification of the 2017 Jambi RAPBD," said Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday.

However, he said, the KPK is currently unable to provide more specific information because it is still conducting a series of investigative activities.

In addition, he also said that his institution could not yet convey the parties who had been named as suspects in developing the case.

"We cannot convey the parties named as suspects at this time. Of course we will further inform the progress," said Ali.

He stated that according to the current policy of the KPK leadership, the announcement and determination of the suspect would be carried out simultaneously with the arrest or detention of the suspect.

"For this reason, in due time we will convey who has been named a suspect. Every development of this case will be conveyed to the public in a transparent and accountable manner as mandated by the KPK Law," he said.

Previously, the KPK has named a total of 18 suspects and of that number, 12 of them have been processed until trial. The parties being processed consist of the governor, DPRD leaders, DPRD faction leaders, and the private sector.

The case began with an arrest activity on November 28, 2017. In its development, the KPK revealed that the practice of "knock on the hammer" did not only occur for the ratification of the RAPBD for Fiscal Year 2018, but also occurred since the ratification of the RAPBD for Fiscal Year 2017.

It is suspected that elements of the leadership of the Jambi DPRD are suspected of asking for "knock on hammer" money, asking for "knock on hammer" money, holding meetings to discuss this matter, asking for project quota and / or receiving money in the range of Rp100 million or Rp600 million per person.

Members of the faction and commission leaders in the Jambi DPRD allegedly gathered members of the faction to determine their stance regarding the ratification of the Jambi RAPBD, discussing, and collecting "knock on hammer" money.

Furthermore, receiving money for the fraction's quota of around Rp. 400 million, to Rp. 700 million for each fraction, and / or receiving money for individuals in the range of Rp. 100 million, Rp140 million or Rp. 200 million.

The members of the Jambi DPRD allegedly questioned whether there was any "knock on hammer" money, following discussions in their respective factions, and / or receiving money in the range of Rp. 100 million or Rp. 200 million per person.
