Carrying A Noble Mission For World Peace, PBNU Invites Indonesian People To Pray For President Jokowi

JAKARTA - Deputy Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Rahmat Hidayat Pulungan invites the Indonesian people, especially Nahdiyin residents to pray for and support President Joko Widodo in reconciling two conflicting countries, namely Ukraine and Russia.

"Currently Mr. Jokowi is on his way from Poland to Kiev, Ukraine, a country that is at war with Russia. This is not an ordinary mission, but a big mission, a noble mission, namely world peace. We must pray for and support this effort, "said Rahmat Hidayat Pulungan in his statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, June 29.

This endeavor is not easy. Therefore, President Jokowi's courage deserves the prayers and support of all Indonesian people. Rahmat said that currently, the world economy is in shock. As a result, many countries went bankrupt and experienced deep inflation.

Economic shocks do not only hit developing countries, but also developed countries, both the United States and countries in Europe. The economic problem is not only COVID-19, but also problems that arose as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war which disrupted the world's energy supply.

"This could result in the threat of poverty and hunger for billions of people in the world, especially in developing countries," said Rahmat.

Therefore, the mission currently carried out by President Jokowi is not only Indonesia's mission, but the will of billions of the world's people to avoid the threat of hunger and poverty.

What Jokowi did, continued Rahmat, in reconciling the world was the noble ideals of the founding fathers of Indonesia at the time of independence, and the goals of Indonesia's foreign policy.

"War is exhausting, destroys everything that has been built and makes the future even more bleak and difficult for us to live," added Rahmat.
