Sunny Tanuwidjaja, Ahok's Close Friend, Leaves PSI To Support Anies Baswedan, Fahira Idris: Respect!

JAKARTA - Choosing to support Anies Baswedan, Sunny Tanuwidjaja decided to quit the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).

Member of the DPD RI who is also Senator of DKI Jakarta, Fahidra Idris, appreciated the decision of the PSI founder who was willing to leave the position of Secretary of the PSI Board of Trustees in favor of Anies.

"Respect, Sunny Tanuwidjaja," said Fahira on her Twitter account, fahiraidris, Wednesday, June 29.

Sunny Tanuwidjaja is known to be a colleague of former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok.

Sunny became one of Ahok's closest people before the Pertamina official ran for the 2014 Regional Head Election.

He had an internship at DKI Jakarta City Hall. Sunny was appointed as Ahok's Special Staff while serving as the Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Sunny has also been an international researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

When compiling his dissertation for his doctorate at the University of Northern Illinois, United States, Sunny discussed Ahok's actions in the political arena in the country.

In 2016, Sunny Tanuwidjaja's name was often linked in the bribery case involving the former chairman of Commission D of the DKI DPRD, Mohamad Sanusi.

In that case, Sanusi was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Jakarta Corruption Court.

The younger brother of a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Mohamad Taufik, was found guilty of accepting a bribe of Rp. 2 billion from the former President Director of PT Agung Podomoro Land (APL), Ariesman Widjaja regarding the discussion and ratification of the Jakarta Bay Reclamation Raperda.‎
