Continue The Train Journey To Kyiv, President Jokowi: We Started This Peace Mission With Good Intentions. Hope It Gets Easier
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by First Lady Iriana continued his trip to Kyiv, Ukraine by train from Poland on Tuesday evening local time, to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Riding an extraordinary train accompanied by Polish security authorities and Paspampres, President Jokowi and his entourage departed from Przemysl Glowny Station in Przemysl City, Poland.
"From platform 4 of Przemysl Glowny Station in the city of Przemysl, Poland, at nine o'clock in the evening, me and a limited group train to Kyiv, Ukraine," President Jokowi wrote on his Twitter account as quoted on June 29.
"We started this peace mission with good intentions. Hopefully it will be facilitated," he continued.
As previously reported, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will travel to Ukraine after attending the G7 Summit in Germany. However, the former governor of DKI Jakarta had to travel for 12 hours by train from Poland. "Bismillah, President Jokowi is on his way to Poland by plane and after that he will go straight to Ukraine by train for 12 hours," said Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. through his Instagram account, @pramonoanungw quoted on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said President Jokowi would be scheduled to meet with the leaders of each country, namely Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kiev and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow with an estimated meeting time of 29-30 June 2022.
The meeting with President Zelensky, the President said, was to encourage the establishment of peace between Ukraine and Russia because they had to stop the war, and the food commodity supply chain had to be reactivated.
