Population Survey Shows Jokowi Supporters Choose Eri Cahyadi, Pro Prabowo To Machfud Arifin

SURABAYA - The Populi Center survey shows that Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin voters in the 2019 presidential election will elect the candidate for Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi. Although his competitor, Machfud Arifin, was once the chairman of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin regional campaign team (TKD) in East Java in the 2019 presidential election.

The Populi Center conducted a survey from 6 to 13 October 2020 with 800 respondents who were randomly selected stratified (multistage random sampling). The margin of error in this survey is 4.0 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.

"Judging from the distribution of respondents based on choices during the 2019 presidential election, the Eri-Armuji pair were mostly chosen by respondents who used to choose the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin pair. The figure reached 45.1 percent. Meanwhile, those who chose Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman were 37.6 percent," Populi Center researcher Jefri Adriansyah said to reporters, Saturday, October 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, Machfud Arifin, according to Jefri, actually received support from Jokowi-Ma'ruf's competitors in the 2019 presidential election, namely Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno. The figure reached 44.3 percent, while Eri-Armuji received 35.0 percent support for the Prabowo-Sandiaga voter respondent group in the 2019 Presidential Election.

Candidate candidate number 1 in the Surabaya Pilkada, Eri-Armuji also received support from voters Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Emil Elestianto Dardak and Saifullah Yusuf-Puti Guntur Soekarno in the 2019 East Java Pilgub.

The number of voters for Khofifah-Emil who said they would vote for Eri-Armuji reached 41.1 percent, while those for Gus Ipul-Puti reached 48.1 percent. Meanwhile Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman received support from Khofifah-Emil voters 40.5 percent and 38.3 percent from Gus Ipul-Puti voters.

"In the 2018 East Java Pilgub, Khofifah-Emil won because the women were chosen. Likewise, when Bu Khofifah lost the previous election, also because she lacked support from women. The 2015 Surabaya Pilwali was also the same. So this is an advantage for Pak Eri-Armuji. because more women are supported, "he said.
