JAKARTA - The Chairperson of the PDI-P, Megawati Soekarnoputri, opened and gave a briefing at the National Culture Coordination Meeting with the theme of the Tree Planting Movement for PDI-P Regional Heads throughout Indonesia. The event is being held today Saturday, October 31st.

"Mrs. Megawati really pays attention to nature and plants. Through the movement of planting trees to regional heads from the PDI Perjuangan, it is hoped that they will contribute to preserving nature," said Secretary General of the DPP PDI Perjuangan Hasto Kristiyanto as quoted in his written statement, Saturday, October 31 .

This event was held at 13.30 WIB. In the event, the Chairperson of the DPP PDIP for Culture and the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, was also present and also gave a briefing.

"The event will also explain the impacts of La Nina related to agriculture, the threat of floods and landslides, including asking PDI Perjuangan cadres through Baguna to prepare for the possibility of such a disaster. Then the priority scale of disaster management is aimed at women and children," he said.

With the tree planting movement as proclaimed by the party bearing the bull symbol, it is hoped that it can be a way to encourage people to protect the surrounding environment.

Furthermore, Hasto also said that planting trees would later be one of the indicators for evaluating the performance of party cadres who sit in the executive branch. Because, based on Megawati's message, caring for nature and the environment will mean taking care of life.

In addition, with the National Meeting of the Republic of Indonesia, every regional head is asked to report progress reports related to the movement to plant rice companion crops such as breadfruit, sorghum, banana, tubers, porang, taro, sago and others. With this planting movement, the PDI Perjuangan put forward the true face of politics that touches the lives of the people.

"This is because Indonesia is known as a nation with the most complete source of food and spices in the world. The young generation of Indonesia should be proud to develop all of this food diversity and process it creatively," he said.

"Ms. Megawati has always emphasized the importance of preserving plants in Indonesia. Through this National Coordination Meeting, the tree planting campaign is being strengthened and it is hoped that the regional heads of PDI Perjuangan can realize this hope," he concluded.
