Record 372 Cases With 4 Deaths, 25 Districts In Lebak Banten Endemic To Dengue Fever
JAKARTA - As many as 25 sub-districts in Lebak Regency, Banten Province are endemic for the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases.
"From the 25 sub-districts, 372 people were identified as positive for dengue fever and four of them were reported to have died," explained the Head of the Communicable Disease Eradication and Prevention Section of the Lebak Regency Health Office, Rohmat in Lebak, Antara, Tuesday, June 28.
The spread of DHF cases in Lebak Regency has brought special attention to the local Health Office to prevent cases of Extraordinary Events (KLB).
Currently, data on the distribution of dengue fever from reports from a number of hospitals in Lebak Regency as of June 15, 2022, recorded 372 cases spread across 25 sub-districts, including Rangkasbitung 142 cases (four died), Kalanganyar 30 cases, Cibadak 51 cases, Warunggunung 13 cases and Cikulur eight cases.
"We ask residents if they have a high fever for three days then immediately seek treatment at health facilities, such as hospitals, clinics and health centers," he explained.
To prevent the spread of dengue fever, he said, medical officers in all health centers optimize socialization and education to the public in order to maintain a clean environment.
So far, he said, the rainfall has been of high intensity and has the potential to breed the mosquito population carrying the dengue virus.
"Usually, mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus breed in clean water that does not touch the ground," he said.
Meanwhile, Anisa (25), a resident of Rangkasbitung, Lebak Regency, said that for a week her 7-year-old child was taken to the Adjidamo Rangkasbitung Hospital for medical treatment, because the laboratory results were positive for dengue fever.
"We are relieved now that her son's condition is back to health and recovered from dengue fever after undergoing treatment at the Adjidamo Rangkasbitung Hospital," said Anisa.
