Cool Vests With Carbon Cool Technology Can Be Handling Heat Stroke Cases For Pilgrims In Saudi
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health utilizes carbon cool technology which is designed to lower the temperature for handling heat stroke cases during the Hajj in Arafah, Muzdhallifah and Mina (Armuzna) during the 2022 hajj season.
"This temperature-reducing vest is an innovation in health services for the Hajj season of 1443 H, for handling heat stroke cases that may occur in the 2022 Hajj season," said Head of the Haji Budi Sylvana Health Center in Mecca, Monday, June 27, quoted from Antara.
The vest will also be used by health workers serving in the Armuzna region as a precautionary measure.
A total of 10 jackets have been prepared for officers. Meanwhile, 20 jackets were prepared for first aid for heat stroke pilgrims.
The team of doctors from the Indonesian Hajj Health Office (KKHI) in Mecca as well as the research team, Dr. Dr. Rr. Suzy Indharty, M.Kes. SpBS(K) - a specialist in neurosurgery, consultant brain tumor, a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, USU Medan, in collaboration with a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, UNS Solo, said that measuring temperature and signs pilgrims' vitals are parameters in the use of the vest.
"The temperature is measured continuously and will be stopped after the patient's temperature drops to 38 degrees (Celsius, ed.), to then be given other standard therapy," he said.
Tekno cool is used because it has a long cold resistance of up to 8-12 hours, much longer than the use of ice or ice gel, does not melt quickly and does not get wet.
The patient will be put on a vest complete with a decker to dampen the sensory nerves that are abundant in exposed parts of the body that are exposed to the sun, namely the arms, thighs, and calves. In an emergency, techno cool can be directly attached to the patient's body.
The Coordinator of the Saudi Arabian PPIH Surveillance for Health, Prof. Rustika, SKM, MSi, ensures that this technology is needed for the treatment of heat stroke in pilgrims.
