AGO Reveals Two New Suspects For Corruption In The Garuda Indonesia Case, SOE Minister: Not Just Arrests, But Improvements To BUMN Business Systems
JAKARTA - The appointment of two new suspects in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of aircraft by PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk at the Indonesian Attorney General's Office was also attended by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir. On this occasion, Erick even mentioned the matter of cleaning companies under the auspices of his ministry.

As is known, the two new suspects are former President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Emirsyah Satar and Soetikno Soedarjo alias SS as Director of PT Mugi Rekso Abadi.

"Because we know that when we talk about corruption, it will happen every year, but what is important is how we minimize corruption cases with an improved system, so that it can run continuously in the long term and this program is not just an arrest program. This program can save, restructure and a solution that is good for all of us," he said.
According to Erick, the restructuring carried out by Garuda Indonesia has been running. He said this was evidenced by the victory that Garuda Indonesia got in the PKPU voting with 97 percent of the vote.
"This is an extraordinary achievement. PKPU has decided that the restructuring program can be carried out with the process that we wanted from the start, that Garuda, we can save this because it is a flight carrier, but there should be no more aircraft procurement without a good business process. good, must be the foundation in state-owned companies must be healthy," he said.
For your information, in this case, the Attorney General's Office has previously named three suspects. They are Captain Agus Wahjudo as Executive Project Manager of Aircraft Delivery Garuda for the 2009-2014 period. Then, Vice President Strategic Management Office Pre-period 2009-2014 Setijo Awibowo, and Vice President Treasury Management Garuda for the period 2005-2012 Albert Burhan.
The total loss to the state due to corruption is estimated at Rp. 8.8 trillion. This loss is claimed to have been caused by the procurement process for the CRJ-1000 aircraft and the takeover of the ATR 72-600 aircraft which were not carried out in accordance with fleet management procedures and the principles of BUMN procurement and business judgment rules.
