After Meeting Governor Anies, Now Korlantas Says Change STNK Due To Changing Jakarta Street Names For Free

JAKARTA - The Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri Inspector General Pol Firman Santyabudi confirmed that the change of STNK for residents whose domicile was affected by the change of street names to names of Betawi figures was free of charge.

Firman's statement revised the previous Korlantas statement which stated that changes to vehicle documents were charged because the replacement was in the form of physical documents.

This was conveyed by Firman after holding a meeting with the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, Head of the DKI BPN Regional Office Dwi Budi Martono, and President Director of PT Jasa Raharja Rivan Achmad Purwantono.

"We from the police do not also oblige colleagues whose residence (address) will change, continue to change STNK, pay again, no. Don't say we are adding to the burden of community costs," said Firman at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, 27 June.

Changes to the vehicle document are made free of charge as long as the document is still valid. However, if the STNK of the citizen has expired, then the change in STNK is subject to a non-tax state revenue (PNBP) fee.

Furthermore, like other population documents, Firman emphasized that the old address listed in the vehicle document is still valid until the public changes the document due to the change of road name.

"Later, when the fifth year the STNK expires at the time of changing to a new STNK, it will be subject to PNBP replacement as applicable now," he said.

"Hopefully, with this information, people don't want people to say that we are adding to the burden on the community because I've already enforced the number plate. Gradually, it will be enforced," he continued.

Previously, Head of Sub-Directorate for STNK Kombes M. Taslim Chairudin said that the change in STNK due to changing street names to names of Betawi figures would be subject to replacement costs because the physical documents were replaced with new ones.

"For STNK, the material must be replaced, PNBP automatically must also be paid again. STNK is carried out at the Samsat where the vehicle is registered," said Taslim.

Meanwhile, specifically for BPKB, later only a police note will be given explaining the reason and the change in the residential address of the vehicle owner.
