Long Holiday, DKI Transportation Agency Asked Toll Rest Area Managers To Limit Use Of Musala-Toilet

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has asked the management of rest areas on the toll road to tighten monitoring of health protocols in the prayer room and toilets during the long holiday commemorating the Prophet's Birthday 1439 Hijriah.

Head of DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said there was an increase in traffic movements by 22 percent on toll roads during the joint leave period. It is predicted that there will be a buildup during reverse flow on Saturdays and Sundays.

"If necessary, in several places that become the center of the association, such as prayer rooms and toilets, there are officers who regulate the maximum number of people allowed to do activities inside," said Syafrin when contacted, Friday, October 30.

"For example, in the toilet there must be a maximum limit of 5 people. There are officers who count to queue outside. So, they will be awake. Likewise in the prayer room," he continued.

Syafrin said, many private vehicle users and public transport passengers who rested in rest areas were exhausted. It is feared that they will be careless in maintaining the COVID-19 prevention protocol.

"Rest areas are places of concern, because the vehicle users will be crowded there and in a state of exhaustion. If the health protocol in the rest area is not implemented properly, the potential for transmission will be large," explained Syafrin.

Previously, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded 509,140 moving vehicles leaving Jakarta on long holidays with vehicle movements starting on 27 October.

As many as 50.02 percent of vehicles moving towards the East, 27.73 percent of the vehicles heading to the West and 22.25 percent towards the South.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Korlantas Polri, Kombes Rudi Antariksawan, predicts that the return flow of the long holiday to commemorate the Prophet Muhammad's birthday will occur on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1.

"Anticipation of backflow is predicted to occur on Saturday-Sunday," said Kombes Rudi in a written statement received.
