PLN Provides Free Electricity Connection Assistance For Labuan Bajo Residents
JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) provides free electricity connection assistance for 100 underprivileged families in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, which is part of the PLN Peduli Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL).
"One of the Pancasila mandates in the fifth precept is social justice for all Indonesian people. We as SOEs are here to realize this mandate by providing electricity for all Indonesians," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo in a statement received in Labuan Bajo, Sunday.
The aid was symbolically handed over to a beneficiary resident in Rangko Hamlet, Tanjung Boleng Village, Boleng District, West Manggarai Regency, Friday.
The beneficiary's house will receive electricity with a power of 450 Volt Ampere (VA) which also includes the installation of an in-house installation with an Operational Eligibility Certificate (SLO).
Darmawan said PLN provided free electricity connection assistance for 100 customers with a value of Rp1.1 million for one customer, both for connection and installation in the house.
The mechanism for distributing this assistance begins with verifying the data of beneficiaries registered in the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Furthermore, PLN is obliged to provide PLN electricity for both connection and installation which is entirely borne by PLN.
Darmawan said the free electricity connection fee was a form of PLN's concern for the poor and efforts to distribute electricity throughout Indonesia.
A beneficiary fisherman, Ahmad Dang (38) is very grateful that his house has been electrified by PLN. With electricity, he can improve the family's economy by buying a refrigerator to produce ice.
"So the fish caught can last longer," said Ahmad.
Throughout the first semester of 2022, PLN has provided free electricity assistance to as many as 3,611 underprivileged residents in the East Nusa Tenggara Region.
Furthermore, 18,377 underprivileged families throughout 2021 with a total budget of Rp. 18.6 billion were also distributed by PLN to help connect free electricity in Indonesia.
