Governor Khofifah And Mendes PDTT Ready To Bring East Java Orchid Flowers To The Export Market
JAKARTA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa supports efforts to develop orchid cultivation in his region. In fact, he hopes that East Java orchids can penetrate foreign export markets.
Khofifah said the development of export potential can be realized through strengthening the pentahelix format in various related sectors, starting from partnerships with the private sector, universities and the government. "This means that there is a pentahelix format, because there is a 'private sector' there, there is a campus and also a partnership with the government," Khofifah said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, June 26.
When confirming the East Java Provincial Government's readiness to support the export of orchids, Khofifah said there are parts that have difficulties, namely related to flora quarantine regulations. Therefore, he continued, it is necessary to revise the orchid export regulations which are the authority of the central government.
He said he would do his best to fulfill the expectations of orchid farmers to penetrate the world market. "So, I will try my best to improve the regulation revision which is the authority of the central government, especially related to exports so that orchid farmers can access the export market," he said.
In fact, he continued, if training is needed for local orchid farmers, the East Java Provincial Government will also be ready to build synergies. "If there is a need for training, please, I think synergy can be built as soon as possible," he said.
On that occasion, PDTT Village Minister Abdul Halim Iskandar also expressed his readiness to follow up on the development of villages that carry out export market-oriented orchid cultivation.
Orchid cultivation will be focused on disadvantaged areas, not only in East Java, but also in villages in East Nusa Tenggara. It is hoped that cultivation in this area will create new varieties that enrich the flora of Indonesia.
"I will follow up on two things, firstly developing export orchid villages in disadvantaged areas. From here new varieties can emerge, so this is a blessing not only for East Java but also for Indonesia," he said.
Then, he also stated that he was willing to follow up on all inputs as well as suggestions and steps put forward by Governor Khofifah.
"I will also follow up on various issues that have been conveyed by the Governor. The steps for the Governor's formal approach must be accompanied by formal steps, so that the potential of orchids and the beauty of East Java can be maximized," he said.
