KAPUAS HULU - The Regent of Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, Fransiskus Diaan invites the millennial generation to know and participate in preserving arts, culture and customs in the local area.
"Tradition and culture are identities in the life of the nation and state, therefore the millennial generation must recognize and preserve customs," said Fransiskus Diaan as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, June 26.
Fransiskus said the role of the younger generation, the next generation of the nation is very important in maintaining and preserving customs and culture so that they are not influenced by outside culture in the midst of technological developments, especially social media.
According to him, one of the prides for young people in Kapuas Hulu is in several competitions and dancing using traditional clothes, for example Gawai Dayak Entibab Ningkau Kandau Compared to the Dayak Seberuang Ensilat Tribe, Nanga Entibab Hamlet, Nanga Dankan Village, Silat Hulu District.
"I am proud to see children wearing traditional clothes, which indicates that they know cultural customs from an early age, I feel very happy," said Fransiskus.
He advised parents to always teach and pass on their ancestral culture as well as remembering customs and arts and culture.

At the Gawai Dayak Entibab Ningkau Kandau Bedakan event, various competitions were also held for the younger generation, such as a creative dance competition which was attended by 30 participants in the categories of children and adults, a traditional clothing competition at Kindergarten (TK) and Elementary School (SD) levels. ) which was attended by 18 participants, the chopstick competition which was attended by 34 participants and the Pangkak tops competition which was attended by 26 participants.
