Claims 70,000 Jakarta Residents Meet JIS At Peak Night Jakarta Celebration, Anies Baswedan: Usually At Most 5-10 Thousand

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan claimed there were 70,000 Jakarta residents who filled the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) during the Peak Night of the Jakarta Celebration which was held today.

Those present, continued Anies, became historical witnesses because the stadium, which has a capacity of 82 thousand, is usually only filled with 5-10 thousand.

"All of you who are present here are the first to feel that the stadium is almost full. Never before have we held an event with this number of visitors," said Anies when giving a speech at the Puncak Jakarta Celebration Night at JIS, Saturday, June 25. night.

"Usually at most 5 thousand (people, ed), 10 thousand. This time 70,000 Jakarta residents were here," he added.

Anies said he was grateful that all Jakartans could gather at JIS. Moreover, this is the first time that Jakarta's anniversary commemoration has been held in a mass manner in a stadium which he says was built by the nation's children.

"The building that you are occupying today, tonight, is a building that was 100 percent built by the children of our own nation," he stressed to applause from the people present.

Anies said that Jakarta, which has almost entered the age of five centuries, continues to transform. In fact, Jakarta has now become a global city.

"What is a global city? We call it a global city because the facilities are international standard facilities. When people come to Jakarta from various parts of the world to come to this city, they will find the stadiums with international standards, look at the international standard sidewalks," said Anies.

"Look at the art center and the arts are of international standard. Watch the bus stops, terminals, stops, the MRT is all of international standard. This is an example of a global city," continued the former Minister of Education and Culture.

Before closing his speech, Anies was grateful that the Puncak Celebration Night in Jakarta could be held well. He hopes that as Jakarta grows older, the existing successes can become the foundation for various advances in the future.

"Tonight we are grateful, God willing, this favor will be added in the future, and God willing, this success will be the foundation for future success," he concluded.
