Movie About The COVID-19 Pandemic, Songbird Releases First Trailer
JAKARTA - Producer Michael Bay's latest film trailer, Songbird, was released on Thursday, October 29.
Songbird said that a much bigger COVID-23 pandemic will occur in 2024, in which the world is undergoing a four-year lockdown with total deaths reaching 8.4 million in just one year.
The story focuses on Nico (KJ Apa) and Sara (Sofia Carson), a couple separated due to a pandemic and living under military rule. Nico claims he is immune from the virus so he can freely find his girlfriend.
Sara was forced to be in lockdown after her neighbor was diagnosed with COVID and came into contact with Sara. Nico and Sara have never met because of lockdown rules.
Directed by Adam Mason, this pandemic thriller genre film is inspired by the current situation.
"It's like Romeo and Juliet, but they separated Sara's front door and the virus," Mason told EW.
The filming process was carried out in a pandemic era where set limitations due to COVID-19 regulations made him focus on what he was doing. Mason admits that the entire crew is happy with this intimate condition.
The release of this trailer received a negative response from netizens. According to them, the production house does not need to romanticize the current predicament.
Apart from KJ Apa and Sara Carson, Songbird stars Craig Robinson, Bradley Whitford, Alexandra Daddario, Demi Moore, Peter Stormare and Paul Walter Hauser.
Songbird is due out in 2021. Watch the Songbird trailer below:
