Purchase Of Garuda Aircraft, The Witness Stated No Invervention

JAKARTA - Emirsyah Satar did not intervene when he was President Director of Garuda Indonesia, in the process of making engine maintenance program decisions (total care program) and purchasing Airbus A330, A320, Bombardier CRJ 1000 NG and ATR 72-600 aircraft. The Garuda board of directors decided on the whole procurement based on a board meeting.

In the meetings, all participants are given the freedom to speak and express opinions independently, so that decisions are made collegially which is unanimously approved by all the directors on the proposals submitted by teams from various units.

This was conveyed by three witnesses, respectively former Garuda Operations Director, Captain Ari Sapari, former Garuda Finance Director Elisa Lumbantoruan, and VP of Finance Albert Burhan at the third trial of former Garuda President Director, Emirsyah Satar at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, January 16. .

Therefore, what the three witnesses said did not support the prosecutor's indictment. Emirsyah Satar has even asked the Internal Audit unit to carry out a calculation and performance audit of the proposal submitted by the team.

Elisa Lumbantoruan said that Emirsyah Satar's leadership period was the best period for the state-owned airline. "Throughout history, the value (valuation) of the company in 2007 was only 200 million US dollars, but in 2012 it has grown to 1.4 billion US dollars," said Elisa in a statement received, Thursday, January 16.

In the previous second trial, it was revealed that Garuda's Technical Director, Sunarko Kuntjoro, was dismissed from his position by the Ministry of BUMN as a shareholder of Garuda Indonesia through the General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) on 31 October 2007, not replaced by Emirsyah Satar.

During his tenure as President Director of Garuda Indonesia from 2005 to 2014, Emirsyah Satar saved Garuda Indonesia - as the flag carrier of the country - from bankruptcy.

Even through the quantum leap transformation program that was implemented, Emirsyah Satar succeeded in making Garuda a five-star airline, into the world's ten best airlines, and "the world's best cabin crew" or the airline with the best cabin crew in the world which was previously always dominated by other world airlines.
