IPO Survey: Public Trust In Government Decreases, Minister Of Health Terawan Is Considered Appropriate For A Reshuffle
JAKARTA - The Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO) recorded a trend of public satisfaction with the performance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. In the survey they just released, there was a decrease in the level of public satisfaction with both of them.
"The perception of satisfaction with the President and Vice President has decreased compared to the IPO survey period in June 2020. The level of satisfaction with Preisden's performance from 63 percent to 49 percent while Vice President Ma'ruf Amin from 39 percent to 33 percent," said IPO Director Dedi Kurnia Syah. quoted from the exposure of the survey, Wednesday, October 28.
This figure was obtained after the IPO conducted a survey on 12-23 October with 1,200 respondents throughout Indonesia. The method used is multistage random sampling with a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
In the survey, it was explained that the assessment factors most highlighted by the public were related to leadership 79 percent, pro-people 71 percent, integrity or keeping promises 66 percent, coordination between institutions 69 percent, and aspirational or empathy 57 percent.
The reason for the leadership factor has been in the spotlight because President Jokowi is considered to often carry out his work alone or one man show without involving his representatives.
Meanwhile, regarding performance, the results of this survey show that public assessments of government performance in the economic sector also show a number of dissatisfaction. This can be seen from their response in assessing the current economic situation.
"Public assessment of the government's performance in the economic sector is sufficient to confirm dissatisfaction. This can be seen from the accumulation of bad responses, namely 51 percent and very bad at 6 percent, until the accumulation reaches 57 percent. Meanwhile, positive responses can only absorb 43 percent," said Dedi.
He explained, there are a number of reasons the public is dissatisfied with the current economic situation, namely 58 percent of the public feel that the price of basic commodities is getting more expensive, 44 percent of the public find it difficult to find work, 38 percent feel that they are unsatisfied with buying and selling, and 34 percent of other things.
Furthermore, the number of public dissatisfaction with government performance is also quite high in the law enforcement sector, reaching 64 percent while only 36 percent said they were satisfied.
Several factors that influence public judgment are the eradication of corruption 62 percent, 56 percent independence of law enforcers, 52 percent freedom of opinion, 48 percent of policy quality, and 36 percent of other factors.
Public dissatisfaction also emerged with the government's performance in the political and security sector. The IPO noted that public perceptions on politics and security tended to be balanced even though 51 percent considered them dissatisfied and 49 percent were satisfied with the government's performance.
There are several factors that factor into the public's perception of the political and security sector, namely the freedom to dissent by 49 percent, crime 45 percent, feeling safe 41 percent, public order 36 percent, and other things 31 percent.
"Meanwhile, perceptions in the social and humanities sector share numbers. Public dissatisfaction is recorded at 50 percent. Some of the factors that influence are management of tolerance at 51 percent, social conflict 46 percent, welfare 45 percent, justice 38 percent, and 27 percent other things," he said. .
Apart from noting the performance of President Jokowi and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, this IPO survey recorded the performance of the Minister of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet. Of the 34 ministers in this cabinet, 61 percent of the public are satisfied with the performance of Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
Then in the next position, 57 percent of the public are satisfied with the performance of Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, 49 percent are satisfied with the performance of Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian, 43 percent are satisfied with Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, and 38 percent are satisfied with the performance of Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir.
Meanwhile, the lowest position in the level of public satisfaction is the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate with 0.3 percent and the Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly with 0.4 percent.
The perceived satisfaction factor is the policy factor of 51 percent, 19 percent of social programs, 15 percent of inter-agency coordination, five percent of transparency, and 10 percent of other factors.
Meanwhile, regarding the reshuffle discourse, the majority of the public, or 57 percent, want Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto to be replaced from his position. Furthermore, four other ministers deemed worthy of being reshuffled were the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate, 55 percent, Menkumham Yasonna Laoly 47 percent, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo 44 percent, and Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Nadiem Makariem 40 percent.
Regarding the figure who deserves to enter the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet in the event of a reshuffle, in the first place there are the names of former Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti 40.1 percent, former Tourism Minister Arief Yahya 35.7 percent, former BUMN Minister Dahlan Iskan 32.3 percent , former Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan 26.6 percent, and former DKI Jakarta Governor Sandiaga Uno 23.9 percent.
