If It Is Proven That There Is Corruption In Asabri, Prabowo Asks For The Assets To Be Returned
JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto hopes that the alleged corruption case that ensnared the Indonesian Armed Forces Social Insurance (ASABRI) will be investigated soon and there will be a bright spot. This is because the former Special Forces Special Forces (Kopassus) Danjen does not want the rights of soldiers to be abused by irresponsible parties.
According to the Special Staff of the Minister of Defense for Public Communication and Inter-Media Relations, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, Prabowo is trying to prevent the fate of the state-owned insurance company's assets from having the fate of First Travel's assets which were confiscated by the state.
"He (assets) must return to Asabri. And the most important note for Pak Prabowo is that the soldiers' funds remain safe. If anyone says Asabri's losses are nearly Rp. 40 trillion, right, there are those who say but I don't know where it came from, wong, Asabri's total assets are Rp39 trillion, "Dahnil told reporters at the Ministry of Defense's office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Thursday, January 16.
In investigating the alleged corruption case within Asabri, according to Dahnil, there are two things that must be a concern, failure in investment or corruption.
"This is a business, and if there is a business failure, it is not a crime. But if it is corruption, of course it must be prosecuted legally," he explained.
Prabowo, as stated by Dahnil, asked all TNI and Polri soldiers to remain calm. This is because the Ministry of Defense believes that the funds which are the responsibility of Asabri are still safe despite the issue of corruption.
"Pak Prabowo said that soldiers must remain cool. Stay relaxed. Because soldiers' funds are safe," he said.
Asabri's alleged corruption will be investigated by the National Police
In a different place, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD held a meeting with BUMN Minister Erick Thohir to discuss the alleged corruption that occurred at PT Asabri.
After holding a closed meeting for one hour, Mahfud asked the TNI and Polri soldiers not to worry, because Asabri's old age security and retirement, which are the responsibility of Asabri, are still stable. However, if there is a violation of the law then this matter must be investigated.
"If the matter is wrong or right, let the legal procedures run and I will talk to the Police, because this is the authority of the National Police," Mahfud said at the Kemenkopolhukam Office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Thursday, January 16.
Meanwhile, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir said that Asabri's financial condition was currently in a stable condition. However, he will continue to find out about the misappropriation that causes a decrease in assets due to a wrong investment.
"Is there any diversion than the decline in assets due to a wrong investment, there is a process itself. So that it goes according to the rules and of course the legal domain is not in the Ministry of BUMN. We are more concerned with the corporation," said Erick.
As for state losses, the former boss of Mahaka Media did not say much, including the question of the alleged loss of up to Rp10 trillion. This is because the state loss checking process is not carried out by the Ministry of BUMN.
"Regarding state losses, it is not with us. There must be BPK, OJK. Of course the process must be carried out," he said.
Previously reported, Mahfud MD said that PT Asabri was suspected of committing corruption with a value of up to Rp10 trillion.
Mahfud even suspects that corruption within the state-owned insurance company that manages the TNI, Polri and ASN at the Ministry of Defense has the same modus operandi as the case that occurred within PT Asuransi Jiwasraya.
To ensure a similarity between the two cases, Mahfud said, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) was conducting validation.
"Yes, the modus operandi is the same (with PT Jiwasraya). There will probably be some of the same people. But later, the important thing will be dismantled because it hurts all of our hearts," Mahfud told reporters at the Kemenkopolhukam Office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jakarta. Center, Monday, January 13.
Asabri has also denied the allegation. President Director of PT ASABRI Sonny Widjaja emphasized that there is no problem with the company's internal conditions. According to him, the news about Asabri that circulated widely in various media did not match the real situation.
"Asabri's operational activities are running normally and well. Asabri can fulfill all claim submissions on time, ”said Sonny in a statement received, Tuesday, January 14.
Regarding the performance of Asabri's stock portfolio on the falling stock market, Sonny acknowledged that there were several declines in investment value. However, according to him, this was not related to Asabri's performance, but the condition of the Indonesian capital market, which was indeed not good.
