KPK Highlights Mangkrak Project In East Kalimantan, There Is Bung Karno Road In West Kutai To A Bridge Worth A Budget Of IDR 300 Billion

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) through the Directorate of Coordination and Supervision (Korsup) Region IV highlighted the construction of a number of stalled projects in East Kalimantan.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for Prevention Ipi Maryati said the spotlight was revealed at a coordination meeting to eradicate corruption in the infrastructure sector in West Kutai Regency today, Wednesday, June 22.

"KPK found a number of projects and assets stalled and not being used," said Ipi in a written statement, Wednesday, June 22.

Some of the stalled assets, said Ipi, include Jalan Bung Karno which is located in Juaq Asa Village, Barong Tongkok District, West Kutai Regency with a length of 12 kilometers. The project, which has a budget of Rp582 billion, has not been completed since 2012.

"This road divides the Mencelew hill and has an important role as an approach route for the people of Tering District to Barong Tongkok as the administrative center of West Kutai Regency," said Ipi.

The next project is the construction of Royoq Port in the Upper Mahakam area, Melak District, West Kutai Regency. Since being carried out in 2009 until now, the project, which costs around Rp. 58.5 billion, has not yet been completed.

"Third, the construction of the Aji Tullur Jejangkat Bridge (ATJ). The 1,040-meter-long bridge project was built to cut the 100-kilometer distance from Samarinda-West Kutai and vice versa," explained Ipi.

"The project has been started since 2012 and has absorbed a budget of more than Rp. 300 billion. And at this time the project is not being continued," he added.

The next project in the spotlight is the construction of the Christian Center or Christian Center Building in Belempung Ulaq Village, Barong Tongkok District, West Kutai Regency. The project with a budget of IDR 50.7 billion and built since 2012 has not been utilized.

"Not only in West Kutai, the Corruption Eradication Commission has also obtained 27 hectares of land assets from the Kutai Kertanegara Regency Government which are intended for the expansion of the Aji Muhammad Pariksit Hospital occupied by a third party," he explained.

The KPK, continued Ipi, then reminded the management of regional property assets (BMD) as one of the important efforts to prevent corruption. Good management must be done.

"BMD as a regional asset is a state asset, so it needs to be managed properly. Regional government assets must be administered in an orderly manner, so that they can then be managed and utilized for the benefit of the community as well as providing income for the regional treasury," he said.

"Good regional asset management will also prevent potential state or regional financial losses due to assets controlled by unauthorized parties or unauthorized use by unauthorized parties, thereby losing potential revenue for the region," concluded Ipi.
