Demonstration At The Proclamation Monument, Workers: DPR Uses People's Money, But Makes Laws Like Kindergarten Children

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Joint People's Labor Movement (Gebrak) Nining Elitos said that members of the DPR RI are like kindergarten children. This was conveyed by him during a demonstration against the Omnibus Law on Work Creation entitled 'Mimbar Akbar A People's Pledge'.

In his oration, Nining admitted that he was surprised that there was an institution at the level of the DPR RI who carelessly made laws. This is evidenced by the change in the number of pages in the manuscript of the Job Creation Law even though it was passed at a plenary session some time ago.

"Just imagine, making laws is like a children's park. People's representatives who are facilitated by people's money, they make regulations that are opposed by their people, they don't care," said Nining in the Tugu Proklamasi area, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 28. .

It is known, the text of the Omnibus Law on Cipta Kerja has indeed undergone changes since it was passed on Monday, October 5. At that time, this manuscript had 905 pages.

Furthermore, this manuscript was changed to 1,062 pages, 1,035 pages, 812 pages, and finally to 1,187 pages with the abolition of Article 46 concerning oil and natural gas.

Returning to Nining, he again mentioned members of parliament who only listen to the people's votes once every five years or just before the election.

However, when they are elected they will forget to listen to the people, including not hearing the voices rejecting the Job Creation Law. For this reason, the workers decided to fight back.

"When they don't care about the interests of the people and the nation, we never submit to anyone who wants to destroy the nation," he said.

Furthermore, Nining invites all people to continue to fight and demand the revocation of the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Law even though state officials insist on ratifying it.

"We never stop fighting and fight even though in a regime that is said to uphold democracy, the democratic space is closed," he said in his speech.

It is known that the demonstration against the Omnibus Law on Cipta Kerja in the Tugu Proklamasi area, Jakarta, was attended by hundreds of people from labor, farmers and students elements.

The workers and peasants who took part in the action were the Congress of the Indonesian Trade Union Alliance (KASBI), the Confederation of Indonesian Workers Struggle (KPBI), the Confederation of Indonesian Workers (KRPI), and the Consortium for Agrarian Reform (KPA).

As for the current situation at the location from VOI's monitoring at around 17.24 WIB, currently the protesters are still making speeches which reject the Omnibus Law on Cipta Kerja. They plan to carry out the action until 20.00 WIB.

As for the traffic conditions from the direction of Kramat to Jalan Diponegoro, Menteng, it was in good condition, although it occasionally got choked up due to the passing mobs.
