PSSI Insists On Immediately Rolling League 1 And League 2 Competitions For The U-19 National Team, Menpora Supports
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) still hopes that the League 1 and League 2 competitions will continue. This is related to the preparation of the U-19 Indonesia national team towards the U-20 World Cup in 2021.
Previously, the Indonesia U-19 national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, said that competition was very important in the road map to the U-20 World Cup. Meanwhile, according to PSSI, the competition will eventually lead to the Indonesian national team.
"With competition, players can also feel the real atmosphere in a match," said PSSI Chairman Mochammad Iriawan.
The PSSI Ketum assured that his party already had strict and documented health protocol guidelines. So, the implementation of the 2020 League 1 and League 2 competitions is sure to implement a very strict health protocol.
PSSI's desire to immediately hold League 1 and League 2 2020 competitions has the support of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Zainudin Amali. He believes, PSSI has made good preparations to hold competitions in the midst of a pandemic.
"The competition must be played immediately. Competition is needed for the development of players to be ready for the World Cup," said Menpora.
PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) have actually announced the League 1 and League 2 competitions to be held in November. However, there is no certainty, because until now there has been no permission from the police.
If in November 2020 the national football competition has not been able to roll, PSSI will take the next option. The League 1 and League 2 competitions will be held in December 2020.
