Dozens Of Residents In Terantang Village, Riau Injured By Attacks, Kampar Police Secures 17 Men
PEKANBARU - Police arrested 17 men for allegedly assaulting and ill-treating dozens of residents of Terantang Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, last Sunday afternoon.
Kampar Police Chief AKBP Rido Purba explained that this conflict was caused by the dualism of the management of the Village Unit Cooperative (KUD) Iyo Basamo which had not been resolved for years.
The 17 people are currently undergoing intensive examination by the Kampar Police and the Riau Police Ditreskrimum.
"Currently, we have detained 17 people related to the conflict in Terantang Village. The suspects are still being investigated intensively and an investigation is being carried out to find out their respective roles when the riots occurred," he explained in a statement received in Pekanbaru, Antara, Monday, June 20.
After handling by the Kampar Police officers assisted by Kodim 0313/KPR, now the situation at the scene is conducive and still being guarded and secured by police officers.
Rido appealed to both parties and the public to exercise restraint and not be provoked by hoax information circulating.
"It is hoped that all parties can maintain conduciveness in each region and be able to restrain themselves and not be provoked by news that cannot be justified. Let's solve this problem well and wisely without violence," he said.
It is known that a conflict led to persecution in Terentang Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Sunday, at around 15.30 WIB which caused dozens of residents to be injured.
One of the residents of Terantang Village, Zaki (20) was injured in the head due to a sharp object slashed by a group of men who attacked him.
At that time, Zaki, who was in an oil palm plantation, tried to block a group of men who wanted to break into the oil palm plantation in Terantang Village.
Because they did not accept being confronted by the residents, a group of men, estimated at 70 people, forcibly broke through with swords and iron clubs. This of course caused residents to be injured and immediately rushed to the Bhayangkara Hospital in Pekanbaru.
