When The Statue Of General Sudirman Was Crossed Out, Deputy Mayor Of Central Jakarta: Many Bekasi People Played There

JAKARTA - The vandalism at the statue of General Sudirman, Jakarta has been in the spotlight of various parties. The 12-meter-tall statue made of bronze weighing 4 tons and costing Rp3.5 billion, now looks dull after being scribbled on with spray paint.

Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Irwandi, hopes that the community will participate in maintaining the beauty of the city. Irwandi said the Sudirman statue is located in the middle of the border between Central Jakarta and South Jakarta.

"I don't know the location yet, if the one on the right is us (Central Jakarta), the statue is in the middle, it can enter Central and South in Sudirman," he said when confirmed by VOI, Monday, June 20.

Irwandi asked the Central Jakarta Satpol PP to add personnel in the field to monitor so that the doodling on public facilities would not be repeated.

"We asked the Satpol PP to add more officers so that they can be monitored. (location) In the middle of that, it could be South Jakarta or Central Jakarta," he said.

Irwandi hopes that the community can play a role in maintaining the beauty of the city.

"We expect public participation to protect Sudirman Thamrin, it's no longer people from Jakarta who visit. It's mostly people from Bekasi, many play there on Sundays," he said.
