Unfortunately For Nani, Her Baby Dies In Hospital And Cannot Return Home Because She Is Forced To Pay Arrears

PURAWAKARTA - A patient who gave birth at a hospital in Purwakarta Regency, West Java, was detained or unable to return to her home, because she could not pay the hospital bill. A mother named Nani Mulyani, in Purwakarta, Monday 20 June, admitted that she was detained by the hospital after giving birth, even though the baby she gave birth to died. This resident of Sukajaya Village, Sukatani District, Purwakarta was unable to witness her baby being buried because she was detained by the hospital due to not being able to pay the hospital bill in full. The hospital detained Nani Mulyani could not go home, because her husband could not bear the cost of Rp. 14 million. DPR RI member Dedi Mulyadi initially received the news from the Sukajaya village head. The village head has tried to ask the hospital's policy to be able to send the family home. Because the family had paid Rp4 million and left a debt of Rp10 million. Hearing the news, Dedi Mulyadi rushed to Bunda Fathia Hospital where the mother was detained. There he met directly with the family of a patient named Nani Mulyani. Nani's husband said he initially took his wife to Thamrin Hospital in Purwakarta. However, because there was no NICU room, he was referred to RSIA Bunda Fathia. After being treated, the baby was born but died. According to him, he had already paid Rp4 million to the hospital. The money comes from the proceeds of the land mortgage. Even so, the hospital still didn't allow him to go home because there was still IDR 10 million in arrears. Even when the baby was buried, his wife was not allowed to go home to see him. “Can't go home because the administration hasn't finished yet. The baby died here, the mother (wife) couldn't see the funeral because she was being held here," he said. Because holding a patient does not guarantee that hospital costs will be paid off. He also asked to meet with the hospital management. While waiting for the management, Dedi and his family headed for the administration room. There, Dedi paid off all hospital fees which amounted to more than Rp. 10 million. When he met the hospital management, Dedi questioned the hospital's policy which lacked empathy to simply give permission for the mother to see her baby last time before being buried. visit the buried baby," said Dedi. In this case, Dedi Mulyadi tried to be neutral. He gave a warning to the husband of the family for not participating in the BPJS program. Even though the husband has a fixed salary that is sufficient to participate in the BPJS program. “Husbands must be responsible to their wives and families by registering BPJS. But I also complained to the hospital why they weren't allowed to go home, there had to be guarantees of all kinds. It's not good when people are having trouble and making it difficult," said Dedi. He also asked for incidents like this not to happen again. Even if there is detention, the husband should be detained, not the mother who gave birth. Because the husband has the responsibility as the head of the family. “But I am also grateful because here there is a NICU, the mother's life can be saved. If he is not brought here, his mother might also die,” said Dedi Mulyadi. After paying off all the arrears, the family was allowed to go home and be escorted by the village ambulance.
