Complaints From The Audience Of The Indonesia Open 2022 At Istora: Food And Beverage Prices Make The Bag Dry
JAKARTA - Indonesian badminton lovers are excited again. Two major tournaments were finally held in Indonesia with spectators.
The two tournaments are Indonesia Masters 2022 (8-12 June) and Indonesia Open 2022 (14-19 June). The tournament was held at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.
The two tournaments received tremendous response from the audience. Understandably, it has been two years since badminton lovers in the country have not witnessed the BWF grand event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, there is still homework that PBSI, as the organizer of the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open, must pay attention to. There were many complaints from the audience regarding the event.
Starting from the less lively atmosphere, restrictions in the Istora area which are considered unreasonable, to the prices of food and drinks that make the pocket dry.
This complaint was submitted by Melia. He said that the price of expensive food was a big complaint for badminton lovers.
"I saw that the food booth was food that was really expensive outside. So if possible there were MSMEs that came here," said Melia, as quoted from Antara.
"Mineral water is also quite expensive at IDR 15 thousand. Because we have to buy drinks here and we can't (buy outside) bring it in, so we can buy two or three times, and it's quite expensive," he continued.
Meanwhile, Tantri said that the previous year's Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open were much better. He said, there are rules that actually make them uncomfortable.
"If you don't have a ticket, you can't enter the (Istora) area. If you enter the stadium, it's okay, no problem," he complained.
"This is also not friendly for family visitors, snacks are less varied. Mineral water is also expensive."
"So in my opinion, it would be better if it was held before the pandemic," Tantri added.
Chairman of the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open Organizing Committee, Alex Tirta. admit there are shortcomings in the implementation this time. However, he felt that the committee had done a good job.
"We apologize if there are shortcomings, but this is a lesson for the Panpel for future implementation. We will improve again so that there are no more unpleasant things," said Alex Tirta.
"Regarding the issue of hype, this is probably the first time we have held a tournament with spectators. So these things can happen. However, we from Panpel feel that everything is good," he continued.
